Celebrate the Lunar New Year 2026 at Sutton Central Library!

Join us for a vibrant afternoon of culture, tradition, and family fun as we celebrate the Year of the Horse. Sutton Central Library is proud to be the heart of this year’s Community Celebration, hosting an array of performances and interactive activities for all ages.

Highlights at the Library

1:00 PM – Grand Opening Ceremony Witness the spectacular "Brightening of the Lion's Eyes" (點睛) ceremony to kick off the festivities, followed by a series of high-energy performances:

 - Traditional Lion Dance

 - Traditional Chinese Music

 - Cantonese Storytelling

 - Pop Dance & Tai Chi Performances

Interactive Game Stalls & Crafting The 2nd floor will be transformed into a festive hub featuring:

 - Game Stalls: Test your skills and learn about Lunar New Year traditions.

 - Crafting Stalls: Create your own festive decorations to take home.

 - Stamp Card Challenge: Start your journey here! Collect stamps at our library game stalls to unlock exclusive discounts at the Festival Markets and redeem a special gift at Oru Space.

The Wider Festival

The celebration continues across Sutton High Street until 5:30 PM! Once you’ve enjoyed the library activities, head over to our partner venues:

St. Nicholas Shopping Centre: Visit the expanded Festival Market for unique gifts and treats.

Oru Space: Explore the Education & Careers Expo, enjoy the Hot Food Market, and redeem your completed Stamp Card for an exclusive 3D-printed festive gift (while stocks last).
